Planned on fishing New Brighton. But it was shut down today. They were getting ready to lift a modular building over the train trestle, probably housing for rangers or ?
So I headed over to SC harbour, launched @ 8:30 fished till 12:30 off Blacks Pt. 45 ft of water. Good RF bite and a few mystery hookups that were hard hits but came off. Kept some good size Browns a china and a 38" Thresher shark. Water was flat and not much drift till 11 am. Was using a white scampi tipped with squid.

Looks like you had a good day, I copied your pic and blew it up, it is a spiny dogfish, see the spines sticking up in front of the fins, especially the one back near the tail, also did it have green eyes whenit was alive?

regardless, must have been fun when you expected a rockfish, those other hard hits may have been other dogfish, the only times I've caught them, I caught several in a short period of time like they travel in schools, just guessing though.
