For those of you on the dark side; what do you use to lube your Mirage Drive?
Why that over something else???

I had my last Hobie for about three years and I fresh watered it everytime and doused it in WD-40. I know a lot of people are anti WD because sand likes to stick to it, but my drive was in excelent condition when I sold that boat. Never had issues with build up of solvent or sand. I use my boat 2-3 times a week in the salt durring rockfish season, so it is getting plenty of use for a good test. Enjoy that beast.

Very little maintenance is required.  Just hose it down at the end of the day after fishing in saltwater.  I usually give the metal parts a little squirt of the recommended WD-40 after every half dozen trips or so.  I'd advise again using any thicker lube or grease that might attract sand.

We use a white lithium grease from Napa Auto Parts (spray can with tube). Put the drive in the sun and heat up the plastic etc and then lube all the bushings, chain, and even the pedal adjustment springs, then work the pedals back and forth to work it in . The lube doesn't wash off in the water and doesn't seem to pick up  sand into the bushings if applied heavy enough. Just finished doing ours tonight . We do rinse thoroughly after each use.

I rinse the drive off after every outing & then give the metal parts a squirt of silicon spray. No problems with sand/dirt sticking.
