I was putting my tackle box back together after Saturday's damage (read: snags) and thought this made a neat arsenal photo. The chewed tails in the upper right came off the lures I had left.

You need some hacked-up butter knives, lead-filled pipes, and perhaps an open-ended wrench.

with a small soldering iron, you can fix the tails of those swimbaits and scampi tails in seconds.

the soldering iron surgery is disturbingly fun.

more stupid lure tricks:

take a hammer and nail. put the flat end of the nail against the heads of your bullet-style leadheads. whack 'em on the pointy end with a hammer. stick eyes in the depressions you just made. you can buy sheets of eyes for a couple bucks from fisherman's warehouse or any craft store.

I don't think the fish care, but it makes me feel a lot better to fish a lure with eyes,  :smt003

what, only shad-head lures get eyes?  :smt011

also, you need to learn to thread those plastics on a little straighter! shame on you!

Im going to try that with some of my odd ball open end wrenches. It should be cheaper that loosing a $7.99 iron on the reefs?

:smt044 I wondered when someone would mention that. Thank you J! Yeah, those are pretty bad, but y'know, they catch fish crooked or not. Those were done OTW, and I wasn't paying much attention. Bad yakfisher! Generally mine look better than those :smt003.

Alan- I do repair my swimbaits using the hot knife method, but the ones I was tossing in the photo have already had major surgery, and following the avulsion of the actual tails I decided I had to let them go. It is a good trick as it dramatically increases the life of the tail.

Eric-What too much bling y'think? :smt003
