I hate carrying a net but you have to in the ocean and I need one for Steelies. I have tried a lot of nets and have just not been happy with them too awkward, too heavy, too weak, too expensive. I want something I can stow then stick in a flush mount when I might need it.
I saw an interesting pop up on our site for EGO Nets and they looked interesting but couldn't find any local dealers, so I emailed them and Grant Corbett from Adventure Sports told me that they had no dealers on the west coast yet but he could send me a sample. A few days later I got it in the mail and it looks like what I have been looking for. It feels pretty strong is super light it's 1.1lbs and floats it came with a leash and the big nylon net bag is rubber coated. It fits in my hatch and sits in my flush mount perfect. I'll post a longer review on it after I catch some fish the Model is EGO WADE Large rubber coated nylon. Here are a few pictures

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

What a score!  I want one.  You going to become a dealer, Mike?

What's the diameter on the hole?

Yeah, sorry, I was thinking it sounded unclear when I wrote it!  Part of the specs are like this:

- Hoop – 19” x 21”
- Handle – 11” anodized octagonal
  aluminum
- Bag Depth – 31”

This is impressive for a compact net, and the bag depth allows for a large fish to fit in at an angle.

I guess I was asking about "Hoop" diameter, which is actually two measurements:  handle to end and side to side.  The big salmon net I run with is about 29+ inches wide and about 34 inches from the opening by the handle to the end - so "Hoop" = 29 x 34 on my big net (depth is about 3').  I have often advocated for using this giant net all the time on the ocean because you always have the potential to catch a giant ling or salmon or halibut...etc., but it's definitely overkill on the rivers and lakes and I have a much smaller net I use in those places.  I'd like one of those nets you found - will they send me sample?!

I generally prefer my gigantic net vs gaff for flatties. Lings are easily gaffed. Salmon....what are those?

For those of you that use nets, which would you recommend for a noob like me, (On the ocean that is) to use on my kayak (OB) to get?
One with a short handle, like on the EGO this post is about or one with a long handle? Like the one Mooch has that collapses.
I'm thinking that the shorter handled net might be easier to use, less handle to worry about hitting other things on deck.
But the longer handled net might be able to haul in larger fish easier with the additional length on the handle?
