Just now decided to load the kayak and launch tomorrow morning at Santa Cruz Harbor about 7:30. This is my 2ed time out on my kayak and my first time out of the harbor. Any company would be great.  I'm after those halibuts. I thought I would spend about a 1/2 hour trying to catch some live bait and go for it.
Not sure were to go; so any suggestions would be great. Going to the movies with the wife and I will check for replays around 8:30 tonight. I will be on channel 69 tomorrow. Thanks Joe

I am launching out of Capitola at 7am+-. I'll be on 69. Look for the birds they have been everywhere. Out of the harbor you will find scattered anchovies and some macks and jack smelt. If the birds are really working stay stationary. If you have a ff you can locate the stacks of bait. If not happening slowly troll a sabiki around. Your guess is as good as mine. There have been fish caught from Natural bridges to Capitola. I launch from Capitola for two reasones. 1) its free, 2) I can usually make bait quickly. I'll probably fish from Soquel point towards Capitola just caus the wind will blow me back that way in the afternoon. I'll be on 69.

Yes that was me. No luck fishing, but I got a good workout. I went just short of the mile marker and did some drifting with live bait. I also had to get to work. Only fished for about 11/2 hr. I live in Scotts Valley so I'm planning on getting out as much as possible. Maybe we will cross paths again but with  kayaks full of fish.
Happy Trails Joe
