Hello Everyone!

This is an awesome site!

New guy here that has been recently bitten with the bug to get out on the water for some fishing fun. I recently bought my first kayak and am looking for some fishing buddies.

I am new to this whole thing so I will most likely be sticking to local lakes like Del Valle and Chabot but want to check our the delta and the russian river pretty soon. I have been fishing the delta and local lakes for many years and may be able to show you some cool new spots.

My yak is only 11 1/2 feet so the ocean is probably out of the question as are some of the bigger delta waters.

Here is a link to my yak.

Welcome aboard RB.  There are a lot of people from your neck of the woods that I'm sure would love to learn of your spots as well as show you the ropes.

Look forward to hooking up with you in the future.

Michael

Welcome Yakattack ! I also live in the East Bay, San Leandro and enjoy the local lakes and Delta. Deep Blue is still a little scary for me, need some salt water equip. first. Maybe next year I will try it.
I will be hitting Lake Chabot at 6 am tomorrow morning for some top water action and then drifting for cats. If your interested I have a camo WS Tarpon 140 and will be out toward Half Moon Bay. Hope to see you there.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the welcome and look forward to meeting some experienced paddlers and catching some hawgs.

I took my new rig out to Del Valle yesterday and everything went very well. The yak handled the boat wakes very well and even the swells from the wind. I did notice that on the biggest wakes of the day, it nosed in which to me confirms that this is a good starter lake yak and is not designed for big water. I even managed to catch my first yak fish (LM bass) yesterday on a splitshot rig. I am hooked!

This is what I am looking to do in the near future - Not in any particular order.

 - Smallies on the Russian
 - Lake Chabot Large mouth
 - More Del Valle smallies and large mouth
 - San Pablo large mouth
 - Delta - Striper and largemouth
 - Lake Folsom for Spots

I am open to suggestions as well.

Any takers?

Welcome aboard, Yakattack!

I am also new to this iste  and have also been bitten by the kayak fishing bug.   Its gotten into my brain and my blood.   As Kayakjack noted, there is no fighting it.

I used to live in the eastbay for a good part of my life and still go there frequently to fish.

Look forward to joining you on a delta, Del Valle, Chabot, or Russian River adventure sometime.

Lawrence

It is true... I have not been able to fight it. I have already purchased a new fishfinder and rigged up a power source. My debit card is going to get a workout :smt003

WTTM RB!  your card will get workout first..then you'll be doing all work after that...but it will be well worth the pay-off.
You're on the right path, hitting the still water , getting to know your, soon-to-be-if-not-already, BEST BUDDY....your yak is big enough to fish anywhere...it's up to the Captains' abilities&experience as to where and what can be done.

See you on "our" local waters soon....from a fellow EastBay'r

Thanks FisHunter. My yak has been occupying my entire week and I can't wait for the weekend. My FF installation should be done and I should be ready to roll.

I am thinking about a doing some bass fishing.

Anyone up for a trip to either Chabot or San Pablo?

Chabot is a better paddle and scene...SanPablo water level is low and no shade/structure or vegetation touches the water.....you'll have a better time, with alot of arms or coves to toss into.
they are doing Mussel inspections so be sure your Yak is dry inside&out...or they will turn you away.
Goodluck and go straight to the tullies, behind the Island to the east, with a Senko!...if you're there before the sun gets too high.
