Tomales halibut hunt

I would love to go and learn more of how to catch those flat fish but my job does not allowed it.
 I have a question for you. This coming Saturday I may go to Tomales Bay to target Halibut
but what conditions do I need to get them ? does the tide matters? low or high ? deep ? bait ?
I want to go to Dillon Beach for some clams than when the tide comes in I'm planing to drift/ trolling
until the tide comes back out and ride the current in my way out.

Hey Ramon,
Stay away from the mouth on an outgoing tide. That's when the sneeker waves come in and are famous for dumping even the power boats. Only incoming on a small swell.

FYI RE: Dillon Beach <-> Hog Island   On that route is an area known by the local surfers as "The Shark Pit".
