Tuesday 7/8, Lake Mendo

Thinking of going to Lake Mendocino on Tuesday the 8th.  I was going to go get some more rockfish and lings, but the forecasted 20 to 30 knot wind on top of a 7 or 8 foot swell doesn't sound conducive.  Plan to spend some time metering for stripppers and if that doesn't work out, will fish for LMB and SMB.  Will probably be up there by 0630 or so......

Hey Norm, wanted to let you know that I will be taking the wife out for the first time in a kayak. Where are you going to launch? The south or north end? She has never been in a yak and she is very excited to try it. Let me know. Rory

I am thinking of hitting it early tomorrow morning.  I have to check weather report.  It is soooo windy on the coast I wouldn't be surprised if it were windy in Ukiah as well.  If I make it I will be on Ch 69

I will be out of town the rest of next week and then on a family camping trip for the following two weeks.  I will be back on July 28th and will still be on vacation for a few more weeks after that, so let me know if will be able to fish around then.  I will PM you when I get back.

I was planning to launch at the south end as I have had some luck finding the strippers in the hot summer weather in that end of the lake in the past.  Very cool you are getting the wife out.  Does she fish?  Let me know if you will be around and I will look for you for sure.

Hey Everyone,

I was up at Lake Sonoma overnight camping and it was smokin' hot by 1030 or so.  I plan to be up to Mendo by 0600 at the latest.  I'll be launching at the South lot, looking out in front of the launch initially then over around the island to the far side of the dam.  Hope to see you all out there, I'm in a little silver Prius tomorrow....
