Have no idea what I'll be fishing for but, I plan on launching from Nick's Cove about 10ish.  It depends on when the wife leaves for work. I'll have some squid and a sabiki rig.  Plan on dropping it somewhere around the far side of Hog Island and work the incoming tide and slack.  Hopefully, ride any outgoing tide (fighting the wind, I'm sure) back to Nicks.  I've never yak fished Tomales before.  I have fished for rays and sharks from the bank by Marshal and have had a lot of fun doing it.  If anyone's in the area, I'll have the VHF on 69.   Camo Tarpon 120.
Greg

P.S.  I've never caught a halibut.  How can I tell if it is a California halibut or a Pacific halibut.  I searched the DFG site and only found a picture of one of them.

Thanks

Hey Bart,
you may want to use some of that squid to catch some bait first, then go after the halis. I'm thinking of going out on Tuesday. Keep it drifting if you want halis. Don't worry about calif/pacific Most likely california around here. I think the lateral line is the indicator. Good luck.

Thanks!  I've heard live bait is the best.  Hopefully, some baitfish will be willing to give his/her all to the cause.

Your pretty much only going to see California halibut in Marin/Sonoma County.  You really don't start to get pacific halibut till you get up to Humbolt Co.
