I'm putting together a little kayak fishing destination piece for Pinecrest Lake to run in Western Outoors. I was up there last week, but didn't have time to get on the water. I'm looking for experiences, techniques and / or photos of the fishy variety. Landscape shots I've got.

I wish I'd had more time. The lake looks like a wonderful family destination.

I have a print deadline of Weds June 18.

Thanks!

hey pal, i used to live in sonora and fish pinecrest. there is a really nice trail around the peremitter with lots of cool spots to hang out , swim, shore-fish rainbows and soak up the granitalicousness of it all. used to get rainbows on power-bait dressed with burgie from shore. then one day i decided to take my friend's canoe for a joy-ride and i caught 3 hearty 14inch rainbows in about an hour while trolling a 3/8 kastmaster. no fishin in the winter to speak-of but lots of summertime fun.

Hey Paul,

We occasionally make Pinecrest the venue for the annual summer camp I run for our karate club.  Haven't been there in 2 years now, but in the past we always had luck fishing from the bank on either side of the lake using powerbait or inflated nightcrawlers.  The kids had a blast...each outing was good for a few rainbows, and this was in August when it's hot up there.  Since I got my yak we haven't made it to Pinecrest...those group camp sites go fast and I've missed out for 3 summers.  So I can't give you any insight to the boating side of the lake, other than saying I always seemed to see one or two old guys coming off the lake with full stringers or trout.
You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing...

I used to live and work up there, times were tough but catching those tasty trout morsels wasn't.   I devoured so much trout living up there that now I'm just done with those little guys.

Still one of my favorite lakes with alot, alot, alot of memories.  JTF
