Very nice! :smt007   Did you go to Florida for the launch or was it by coincidence?

My mom was in Florida last year and it just so happened there was a launch scheduled.  Unfortunately for her, it was postponed. :smt010

Your Mom's trip must of been a heartbreaker,we held our breath right up until the Go For Launch Checkoff.

My girlfriend's boss knows about her love of all things "Spacey" and he needed her in Orlando Fl some time soon so he scheduled her to work in Orlando Thursday/Friday, then stay for the launch on Saturday.  We also got to use his plush downtown condo for 4 days and back home this morning so for her it was "work" I got to tag along for the price of airfare.

oh man...now that is so cool. Also on my list, but have deferred until my daughter is at least 4- which of course, means I'll never get to see the space shuttle launch.

Make sure your girlfriend never quits her job!

That is cool.  :smt004
When I was in high school in SoCal around 1990 I got to see the end of one of the shuttle missions. We were able to take a field trip to Edwards Air Force base and watched the shuttle land. One of the coolest things was the quadruple sonic booms as the shuttle passed high above us and circled in for landing.

Sweet, you should have gone fishing though. The space coast is pretty sweet this time of year. :-)

Sweet!  I'd love to catch one of those.  Since they're retiring the shuttle in 2010 though I may have to wait for the Ares V if they ever build it...  Maybe when the kids are around Jr.  High.  Obama said he basically wants to gut NASA to pay for a pre-school program.  None of the candidates are as supportive of NASA as Bush has been though, so the future of the cape is very much in doubt.
