Fished the Pt. Richmond 2nd annual Hali tourney on the Hawaiian Hooker

Our team was pretty stacked, Mel, Mike Jones, Rod and the hula girls Eileen and the bobble head. Mel arrived early in typical fashion and kindly woke my hung over behind up out of the back of my truck. The Fri. night pre-party is a whole‘nother story! Left the dock at 5am and headed to SF for bait. After waiting in the short line and taking an earful from a cattle boat operator we were off to find a money fish.

We started off in a spot in Carquinez Straits but after about 10-12 drifts we had big trophy fish outside the gate on our minds so we ran out and gave it our best at Baker Beach for nothing more than a few pesky Lings and rockfish. If only it was a day later.

We then ran back in the gate and drifted near Crissy Field. First drift and I hooked a decent teen that got lost at the Gaff.

Then off to Angel Island where we ran into an armada of boats. Looked for the first net to drop and worked in behind them. I then redeemed myself with a fat 18lber... Wasn’t going to loose another and relied on the trusty net. Mike netted like the pro net man he is.

After many more drifts Rod's pole goes off and we bring in a 17lber.

No money fish but at least we picked up some decent fish for grub.

I did see a few yaks on the water fishing… Anyone do any good in SF/Crissy Fields area and or Pt. Richmond? I may have seen some at Paradise, but couldn’t tell if they were fishing.

Looking forward to RF season in the yak.

A few photos.

- Cold day out, bendo on the first hali

- Managed a few lings

- Would have made good tacos
