Hey Everybody,

Got there a little later than I wanted and hit the water around 10ish.  Launched off the pier and ran into another yak-r w/ a full limit of Rockfish.  He was fishing dead bait on the left kelp bed but I stuck to my plan and made a B-line to the kelp beds to the right.  Fished there for a few hours for only a nice flattie lost at the boat and boy that fish was pissed.   There must have been 8 kayak anglers out today all spread out and there was a good sized fleet at the mile buoy.  I fished the left kelp beds eventually and ran into another angler who got a nice 30" ling and some nice rockfish.

After talking to the surveyor on the pier, he said that a nice halibut was caught by a kayak angler that morning.  So I walked away with no fish today and only a sunburn on my legs but a beautiful day nonetheless.  The water was calm and the weather was perfect, the fishing not so much.  Hope you guys had better luck today.  Take care.

-Eric L.
Good luck and tight lines.

Allen, was that you guys at New Brighton?  I saw a couple of guys in the surf there.  It was a much nicer day than I thought it would be. Sunny and warm. I got out about 6:30 because I thought the wind would come up about 10:30 like it did yesterday, but it really never did, tho I did see some decent wind waves when I got out to about 50 FOW near O'Neill's.  I started out trying to make live bait, but had no luck, then drifted frozen squid all around the eastern kelp bed, going way up into the shallows, but didn't get a nibble.
So I finally tied on my floating diving lure and trolled and got two brown rockfish right away, one of them right near another yakker drift fishing, who had about half a limit of rockies.
Later still, I went west and hooked a fiesty underling.  Water was pretty murky and lots of broken-off kelp floating around. Landed at 11:30 in surf so small I wondered why I saw people carrying surfboards down - earlier I had gone in near the bandstand to see if I could hear the ukes playing (couldn't) and could have landed easily at the surf break there.

bummer on the lost butt.

I was walking around Cap. with my wife banking WAF points around noon.  The poor surfers were just sitting in ankle slappers at best.  Some kids were pissed becauses they couldnt boogie board, not enough action.

while enjoying my grilled mahi mahi, I saw too yutes walk by with a nice stringer of browns and a decent ling

Motor oil 4" floating tube w/ 1/2 ounce kalin's lead head.  They weren't having the white one or white scampi today for some reason.  Guess what they say is true, dark water=dark lures & clear water=light lures.
Good luck and tight lines.

I was up further at Pleasure Point Sunday morning and got skunked, not even a nibble.  Talked to another guy who did fair any better.
