Late report, but anyway...
Ashley and I got to Collins Lake Sat. am. As we pulled into the packed campgrounds I remembered why I usually never do any recreating on weekends, much less 3 day holidays.
Our camp mates however, said: "there's hardly anyone here" uh what?
Lite rain fell as Ashley (3 mos. preggie) and I launched from the shore near the dam.
I trolled while she took in the sights.
We ended up circling the lake, me trying about 12 different
lures. It got pretty windy, and combined with the PBs pulling frozen kids in float tubes, and a couple of V8 jet daycruisers, the water was roiled.
About 2/3 of the way around the lake I lucked into a 12" LMB while pulling a 4" Shad Rap.
Reached into my vest for my camera, not there - must be on the desk at home!
I'll be returning on a weekday since this place is somewhat close to home and looks like it has some potential.

Trolling with mama onboard - cool.   :smt001  Thanks for the report - forgetting the camera at home is a good way to see a bald eagle catch a big fish or something...   :smt002

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

We usually do well dragging a worm behind a small gang troll either by the dam or down by the eagle's nest. If the boaters are out heavy you can get a nice break from them by fishing from the power lines down to the bridge. It really helps if you have a fish finder and know what depth they are at.

We had an eagle swoop down to nab a fish 50' from our boat, go to grab the camera ... memory card full ... doah!   :smt012
