Another nice day and another day of big fish...
I nailed this 26" ugly cabzilla. Thought it must be 12 lbs or more, but nope, only 9+ lbs on my cheapo digital scale. The 30" ling weighed 11 lbs on my scale.
Does any of you know how big do these ugly toad like things get? Seems the bigger it gets, the uglier it gets!

They actually get quite big, but that is a super solid cabby.  That fish would be AOTY heaven!!!!

Ahh now now Leony,
Don't go insulting one of the best tasting fish available, their stomachs alomost always contain abalone and crab with a small smattering of kelp. What is not to like - ever heard the phrase "So ugly it's cute?"  :smt005

Not that I subscribe to that, I always disliked the phrase. Cabbies have some of the coolest coloring IMHO.

NICE fish!  :smt003

According to Wiki the line and hook record is 25lbs... I'm not sure if that is correct, but that would be one hell of a Cab.  They sure do taste good, of course if you subscribe to the old addage: "you are what you eat", how could they be bad feeding on crab and ab.
Never trust a man that doesnt like to fish...

Nice fish and report.  I happen to think cabs are one of he most beautiful fish in the pacific.  In their profile they almost look like they are wearing samurai head gear. Not to mention that they change into a rainbow of colors.

I think I recognize that rock your fish are on.  :smt001
