Scott, what a great shot of the submerged landing and great advar of a memorial landing. I like the fact that you had on the proper head gear for that one looks like it could have hurt :confused2:.
So far sackyak that has to be the action shoot of the year...NICE.  :smt038

Scott,How far from the Yak were you catapulted? Would have loved to seen that landing.

Frank -

I usually change my avatar every month but this trip was so much fun I will probably keep it for awhile. It was my favorite NCKA outing to date even compared to the Islander and BAM, even though I came home with no fish. I actually jumped out of the yak so I guess I landed 5-10ft from the boat. The amazing thing is I held onto my paddle through the whole thing.

That was not the worst of it.  After that wave, and Scott's ejection, I grabbed Scotts yak and looked up to see a wall of water.  We ran toward the beach and soon I was up to my arm pits in water struggling to hold on to Scott's boat.  At this point Scott is underwater somewhere.  We wound up pushed several yards up the beach and I see Scott's helmet followed by Scott pop out of the water a few feet away from me and his Kayak.  After a few exclamations and clearing sand and water from our orifices it was High-Fives and wahoos.  I know after many trips with Scott that he feels exactly the same as I do at moments like that, oh we are so alive and feeling great.  Can't wait for next time.  Yea.

I have been savoring that trip all week.  Just one thought about it and I am smiling again.  My coworkers have all seen Scott's drop in.

yeah that second one was so big I decided to swim with it instead of trying to hold ground. I used to body surf at a place in Newport Beach called "The Wedge" which is known for it's monster shore break but I will say that the shore break at LK is more powerful even though the waves are smaller. I think what made this trip so special was having so many first-timers tough it out and catch big fish and finally getting to fish with the Cambria boys minus Littoral and Andy. SCXFactor coming back with that jumbo stringer after being denied on his first launch and losing his paddle and PJ with his best ling then doing the David Hasselhof thing in his spiderman wet suit was really something. And of course being able to surf a giant wave for 1 second followed by a spectacular wipeout is the stuff I think about all winter long as I troll for trout. :smt005

Hey There, :smt006
I found it in craigslist for $ 600. The Manta Ray is getting dusty in my garage, I saved it just in case one of my friends wants to go with me. So far nobody wants to go with me, they said I'm crazy because I go ocean fishing,
they said : Ocean on a KayaK ? you are bait ! :smt003

This has been one of the best reports I have read on NCKA, I am a newbie, though, so I may have missed more! :smt002 On that sat, I was at the Angler's Choice in Capitola, when SCXFactor rolls in and says they had a great day at LK, with some unfortunate outcomes on the landings, but luckily no one was hurt.  He stated that he even broke his handle of his icechest cuz of the fish!! I need to start getting out more.
Thanks again for the reports from all who participated in that day!

Damian.
