Has anyone done and Geocashing? I had no idea what it was until Tuesday when I ran into someone who was geocashing. I guess you sing-up online and download Lat and Long's for locations were stuff is hidden, then you drive around looking for the treasure. Once you find it, you sign the list of people who have found the treasure and leave it for the next guy.

Sounds like something we could do with our fishing locations. Like burring something or hiding it real good and giving clues as to where it is. I don't know, but it sounds like it may be fun, until gas prices get too high to leave your house.

CHEERS!

Its funny you posted this today.  I found one at work a few weeks ago by accident looked inside and found the website for it. Geocaching.com , I went to the site and thought it would be cool to try. So I logged in and today I went out and found my first geocach in Monterey.  It was kinda cool driving around following the arrow. When I got close I got out and started walking. my GPS got me within 18ft of it so I looked around for a while and found it in a tree, signed my name and date and put it back in the tree. I only loaded one location in today but I will try it again.

Too late, it's already too expensive to leave my house.  I was thinking about maybe trying it out in my sons room but I thnk I'd better get some more experience with the GPS before I try that otherwise I might not find my way out for a couple of months and then I'd run the risk of having my account closed for not posting.   :smt003

We found our first geocache in Feb 2002 and now have 1,169 finds. User profile "GeoSharks".
It's a fun "Plan B" when dive trips don't go right. Great way to teach the kids how to load waypoints and use a gps.

My favorite find was a scuba cache in Maui.

Different GPS manufacturers have geocaching links on their sites as well... some of them even have little trinkets and stuff that you take and leave something else in its place...

Found that site a few years back. I found one geocache at a location at Sly Park that I didn't even know existed. It is a great way to discover new places.

The wife and I attended the "GeoWoodstock VI" event yesterday. More people there than we expected. Cachers from Cananda, Japan, Germany and all over the US showed up. I heard that a group from Belgium found 350 caches around the Sacto area in one day. The wife and I found 4 or 5 easy ones.
