What will be the best locations for the 6-1 opener?
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

My sentiments exactly! Ok, anyplace thats good...small swells, protected or little wind for a good drift.
Any of the usual places should be fine after their long rest. Watch your weather buoys and wind forecasts and plan accordingly.

Watch it Tote you have to go by my house to get to the ocean.

Fishshim, I don't know what the usual places are. That's why I was asking.

Fort Ross and Stillwater Cove (North) are two of the "usual spots".

I will probably be fishing Fort Ross on the opener.

Here is a tempting report from Eureka. Are Eureka or Bodega bay good for yak fishing rockfish or halibut?

Bodega Bay / Harbor can be really good for halibut, but it seems to skip years.

Eureka is really far away from Bodega.

Both bodega and eureka are major fishing ports that get a lot of fishing pressure. the opener would probably be the best time to fish them however bodega is a longer paddle to get to the good rocky structure.

depends on what area is convenient for you to get to as well... the north central region has a ton of places to go out... some better than others.  Have to figure out whats open to fishing, but caspar, albion, mendocino, van damme, fort bragg... russian gulch... the list goes on.
Never trust a man that doesnt like to fish...

How close to the ocean. I might need a place to crash.  :smt002
