Hi folks, im going on the Peace freediving day trip on friday and will also be bringing my rod and reel because i get winded in a couple of hours while taking my medication . I thought i could jig for bass since i dont plan to spend the whole day in the water. i just get so tired after a couple of hours.

along with my spearfishing gear im going to pack a rod / reel / butterfly jigs and some swimbaits. Can anyone suggest anything else? Im just going to pack a handful of lures and not use bait on this trip to keep it simple.

water is warming up fast as well.

i called the peaceboat and they said they are ok with fishing as well on these trips although its booked as a freediving trip.

thanks!

john

John yo-yoing blue/white,and scrambled egg color irons are a staple socal method. Also bring a sabiki rig to catch some mackies and dropper loop them or flyline.

Thanks for the tips. i really appreciate it. i am going to go shop for some irons of different sizes and just go with those. that keeps it simple and easy to pack!

thanks!

I would still bring the swimbaits and jigging blades. Especially if the sandies and calicos are around. It all works, finding out which thing at which time is the trick.

A mackeral pattern Crocadile spoon is a good choice also. Southern Cal calicos love them over the top of the kelp.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

For consistent all around yoyo irons I have had incredible luck over the years with a heavy salas 6x jr. in blue/white...fish love it.
