I hit the water this morning around 6:45 or so, trolling a frozen herring. Saw a few other boats but not much action. Around 8:30, while drifting a whole frozen squid in 11 feet of water, I opened my first beer, a cool Lagunitas Censored Rich Copper Ale, an easy battle in the already intense heat.
I trolled some more with no luck, although I saw a few power boats pick up fish. Around 10:30 AM, a whole squid drifted in 18 feet of water produced another beer, again a Lagunitas Censored Rich Copper Ale. Funny how drifting is so much more conducive to beer than trolling.
I saw a few sturgeon jump, plus a strong, ripping, surge just beneath the surface a few yards away from me that must have been a sturgeon.
I trolled all the way back against the wind, making it to the ramp at 11:30. Packed up and heading home at noon. Not a bad day, but no fish. No Lagunitas IPA Maximus either...

Got in the water by 7:15 and met Malibu 2.  Followed by Naoaki who had to take an early swim since his ride decided to take off without him.   :smt044   Nothing much happening since we did'nt have live bait.  winds to SF and an out tide made it hard to paddle back.  all in all a good day to be out.  Hope you caught one Naoaki.
