Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

at least you have fish. and can launch your kayak in your local reservoirs.

I'm starting to feel a little oppressed/cursed right now. apparently they are closing all santa clara reservoirs to boating now due to the quagga quagmire. and santa cruz has no fish (I rented a house for 10 weeks right by the SC harbour starting this weekend). and salmon is closed!

at least I did catch those silly little truck trout this spring. that was relaxing and fun.

well, life was simpler when it was just working and surfing. fishing is hard.

John

p.s., what happened to blue kayak btw?

Fished last Saturday at Capitola. OTW around 7:00am. By 10:00 had my first copper. By 10:15 me and another kayaker found the honey hole. Water was calm and glassy,  and the sun was just breaking through the early morning fog.

Pulled up 5 more good sized copper in the kelp directly right of the pier on a copper/gold swim bait laced with squid. Had another 3 lb grass cod. Total 7 fish by 11:00am. Off the water by 11:30. It seems like the fishing in Capitola is better then SC. I'm still looking for my first Ling of the season.

Pinto was just stocked with a billion little trout for the kid's tourney.  Some folks caught 40+ fish that day (C&R of course) and most everybody got something.

I'm assuming if you're looking for some low-key freshwater action that it'll still hold trout for the next few weeks and then...  maybe a few larger bass?

Venture out farther JM! SC produces once in a while, but all these south reports coming in are looking mighty fine!
