I just made my purchase last night and I'll pick it up from Cabelas in Reno next Friday. Trevala MH  :smt003

That's the exact set-up I use for rockfish-lingcod, and I love it.  My catch rate went way up once I started with the shimano rod.  It is worth the $100, and in perspective of something like g-loomis it is a bargain.  with a 6/4 Avet and a Shimano trevala, fish are not getting away from you.

Good to hear about some experiences with this set up. I went for higher line capacity rather than higher test when I spooled the Avet. It took 300 yards of 30lb braid with a top shot of right about 100yds of 25lb Big Game. I'm figuring that this should work fine on rock fish and give me 400 yds of line to work with when fishing sturgeon around here or smaller pelagics down south.  :smt065
