Just to drop a line to the group about the pre-season conditions here in ole' Cambria.  I'm completely psyched to be fishing again in 11 days but it ain't been nothing but wind wind wind.

There is no showing of kelp @ any of the typical spots in Southern Cambria & the surf has been largely on the small side.  It's the wind I'm worried about, it's been blowing & blowing, seems like 10 days of wind & maybe 1 or 2 of calm.  The kelp is looking good @ Estero Bluffs area with pretty thick beds south of Killers.  Hopefully there's a lot under the surface up here & it only needs a couple more feet to go.

Had some fish that I vacum sealed & froze fresh @ the end of last season & it was good!!!

Look forward to May 1!!!

Scott,

Basically, IMHO, we lost our 2 best spots, the only 2 I fished.  One was Piedras & the other Harvey St. or Marine Terrace.  I'm hopping that somewhere around those areas I will find new fruitful ground, hopefully.

Also we have a lot of undiscovered, unfished, unbelievable territory north of the Flemmish Cap (in the Ragged Point area) that's just begging to be explored.  I know it holds some excellent spots as I've seen some commercial boat close to shore, the problems is access to the beach.  It's quite a hike in the least. Possibly even undoable in many locations.

August should be good, let me know if you need any recommendations around town.  Hopefully this year will be as good as 2 years ago.  Last year was so so but year before last was on.

PJ, glad to see you ready for a season.

I think you will end up with some great spots out of all this and engineer some access or a way to paddle there.

A will finds a way.

cambria was a real victim of the mlpa stuff.
