A lot of you already know about this and it has also been mentioned by Jeffrm20 but there is a new Bass Pro Shops being built in Manteca CA.  It's on HW 120 between I-5 and HW 99.

There was an article in the Modesto Bee about the new store.  It can be read here: http://www.modbee.com/business/story/270672.html

This will be the 2nd store in CA.  Their only other CA store is down south in Rancho Cucamonga.  Apparently they have plans for a couple more stores here - Sacramento & Bakersfield.

The 120,000 sq. ft. store will have a Yosemite National Park theme.  Some of the store's attractions include an archery range, shooting gallery, fudge shop (:dontknow:), and aquarium.

It is scheduled to open Thursday, October 2 - the weekend before BAM IV! :smt003   I'll most likely have to wait until Thanksgiving. :smt010

We don't have a BPS here in Wa but we did have a Cabelas open not too long ago. I got to admit, I'm not really into mega-stores but thought I'd check it out anyway. And yes, mega store, at least as big as Costco. To be honest I wasn't too impressed. It just seemed too "general" if you know what I mean. No real specialty sections. Not even a salmon section... and in Wa!! :smt102 They seem somehow like little theme parks. Very cool for browsing, not too conducive for buying. Looking forward to checking a BPS out and seeing how they do their stores.

If were a religious man, Bass Pro Shops would be my church, place of worship, sanctuary....  one problem though, BPS doesn't carry my fav bass lure, RoboWorm Zipper!  I'll have to talk to someone about that when they open. (After BAM IV of course)

Fudge shop? I have to go to Dallas in a couple of weeks, and I understand the BPS across from my hotel has a restaurant and a micro brewery. I think fresh beer seems a little more appropriate for the BPS crowd :beer3 . Just the same, I look forward to seeing a BPS in Sacramento.

I visited the BPS in Vegas last July. Didn't have as much time as I would have liked to look around..but it was fun. I work in Stockton so the new Manteca store will be an easy drive.

I will definitely make the pilgrimage.  We are starved for good tackle up here.
