The evening was beautiful so we zipped over to Mather for some fishing in the waning sunset.  The lake is full of weeds and looks fishy.  I had a couple of hard grabs on the 1/2 oz spinnerbait..  Threw some topwater as well, but for nothing...
We did see 2 otters and a beaver.  the bird song was insane, I have not been surrounded with such cacophony in a long time, including many sounds I couldn't identify.

Off the water at dark.
on a separate note, on the way we were stopped as a very long procession of CHP motorcycles, then CHP cars then 2 limos and 5 SUV's followed by 20 CHP cars went by towards the rear entrance to the airport (also an ambulance and a fire chief truck).  obviously someone more important than me was leaving town!!!

Here are a couple pics of the sunset...

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

I believe Shotgun Dick Cheney was in town for a fundraiser. Maybe that's why the fish weren't biting too. They thought he might go fishing.  :smt002

Yep, Cheney was heading down to the Wilton area.

Mather is a fun little pond. I've caught some nice LMB there.
Thanks for the report.
