Tempted by the great weather and good looking tides, I burned a vacation day to hit some of my spots.  Probably didn't even need to bring the jacket today.  I started with a buzz bait with no success, probably still a little too early.  So I switched to my favorite jig combo and started pounding structure.  Got alot of 2 to 3 pounders early, then started hooking some nice 6 pound class fish.  The biggest came on a swim bait and was 6.5 on the lip gripper scale, got to get a digital some day.  Ended the day with over a dozen landed and a couple misses, including a short battle with a good feeling fish that spit the hook.

Man I was wishin I was out there today...the weather is beautiful.

Very nice work X-squid...You jig is definitely a winner (I'll have to take a closer look to see your set-up next time we fish together).

Keep trying that buzz bait and let us know when they start slamming it.

Thanks guys.  You got it Hobie, I owe you one.  The swimbait we swapped produced my fish of the day.  It got absolutely smashed by that fish, thought it was a striper for a second.  That color is a keeper.
