Rancho Seco 4-7

CHUB and I started at noon. Kayaks are all geared up and ready to hit the water when he says to me, " Dad, I think I'm screwed."
Forgot your paddle didn't you?
Yep.
So I broke mine down and we each paddle canoe style with only half a paddle. Pretty different to say the least but we got by.
Took 2 hours for the first fish to hit. After that it was mediocre. I hooked 6 lost 3 right at the boat ( no net ) and boated two.
Biggest was 16.75'' on a Senko. CHUB did about the same.
I did see one SUBMARINE cruise by me. HUGE is an understatement. I didn't know they were that big in there.
All in all a good day on the water.

Gate to enter closes at 6pm. The automatic exit gate will let you out after that.

Great job overcoming adversity, Mike!  Chub was probably really proud that you bucked up and gave him half your paddle - I can't imagine a kid more willing to learn humility than when someone sets an example like that.  Way to go, Dad!   

way to find the fish one paddled fellas! ,nothing will stop the need to toss SENKOS! 
and I'm not sure I would have thought to split the paddle up!  ...well maybe on the way home
