The wind really held back this morning. hit the water at about 9. trolled all the way to the very end, and then south towards some pelicans way off,back to the hole that runs parallel to the inner wall and over to in front of Ballina bay marina. One shaker on the way out and one which came unbuttoned right at the boat. That would have been my first keeper Hali on the boat. It was a decent fish. I picked it up outside Ballina, just outside of the hole that runs parallel to that wall. Skiffs working the same area had half to one fish per rod. That current can be a tad challenging on the outgo. When am i gonna get some paddle company down here?

sorry sharky alameda is my home town but I had to work today  maybe next weekend

Insaeduane, so what can you tell me about making live bait around the island, I think it may be key to those hali. I have a small bait pen and place to tie it on the oakland side of the channel.

there is no bait right now  but it should pickup soon
the slew that feeds lake merit is full of smelt but they just are not there yet
give it 2 to 3 weeks or we need some hot days to get them spawning
then bait is no problem. do you live on the water? what days can you fish
i have every wed off and every other weekend next weekend i will be off
