When I first saw Allen's new avatar, I thought is was just another cool Zeelander Photoshop hoax.... until I went to the magazine's site and saw the cover shot for April.

Check it out:  http://www.fishalaskamagazine.com/archives/2008/408_TOC.htm

Yeah, Pole's a legend up here. When I was buying my new rod yesterday @ the local fishing shop, Outdoor Emporium, I was talking yakfishing w/ the salesman and he mentioned some guy he met who kayak fishes for sharks in Alaska. I asked "the tallest Pinoy you've ever seen right?" he was like YEAH, THAT'S HIM!!  :smt003

Insane cover shot bruddah.

"Pinoy is a term of endearment and is rarely used in formal settings. The term is akin to that of a nickname which is used by close family members and friends so that one who uses it somehow already developed some close ties with Filipinos."

With the internet, if you only learn something new every day you're way behind!

Way to go, Allen!  From what I've seen in the past few years this is very fitting, and not just for the content of the photo.  Keep up the good work.  I hope to call you pinoy one day.

REPRESENT!   :smt001

When I got my FA mag last week and I saw the cover, I was stoked. This will open a whole new (well at least to most folks) recreational/sporting opportunity in Alaska - WTG Polepole!  :hello2:

Imagine my surprise last week when I started getting emails of congratulations.   I knew we had an article in the mag, but I had no idea I was on the cover.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Don, not a peep from me from now on ...
