finally had my two sons join me on the water.  The just turned 13 year old Nathan is an athletes athlete and has been itching for more successful fishing than one typically encounters on a pier.  He paddled a tarpon 160i (mine) a tarpon 120 and a prowler 13.  He loved the P13.  At a 100 pounds and 5'1" I would have thought the P13 would be hard to handle but I guess not.

My concern is getting him more yak that he can handle, but at the same time, he has size 9 dogs now, so I figure he will grow a lot soon.  Any ideas before we pull the trigger?

Full disclosure my 14.5 year old climbed out of the warmth of his computer den under duress.  Be nice to him however as one day I fear he will rule all networks, great and small alike  :smt002

There's no doubt that he will grow into the P13. If you are looking to buy now, I would have him paddle a Scupper Pro before you "pull the trigger". That's my 2c.

Good Luck

I agree with Ben. The Scupper Pro is lighter and easier to paddle for the little people.....but then again, he seem's to look comfortable on the P-13 as it is :smt002

thanks guys, came across a new but last year model p13 so pulled the trigger before some fevered fisherman nabbed it. My son is about to come out of his skin, we are both looking foward to hitting the water soon.

fishmaster, ya we were there in Monterey on Sat so that was us.

CHUB has been paddling a Scupper Pro since he was 10. He is 16 and that is still his kayak of choice. It is a fast kayak and because he only weighs about 130 he hauls @SS on it.
