Good luck in the search.

I'm going to be buying a house soon too...  Finally I'm seeing Bay Area houses for under 400k.  It's my time.

Boy one day, I love the Ft. Bragg area, further north sounds great too but how is the weather? I guess if I take long enough global warming should fix most of my concerns.

Actually what I would like to do in the near future is try to pick up something in the vacation rental world up there with enough property to later on in life build on or add to when we are ready to move up permanently. Then maybe via the rental it could help offset some of the cost of buying/maintaining some and I would have a place to stay when we go up there on vacation.

On a side note: Anyone know if the place pictured is available for weddings? You know the spot, Van Damme north point. It has the large lights that shine down on the ocean. After 10 years together, 2 of them engaged we are finally about ready to get married and I told Sarah I'd see if I could find out any info. for her as I know there are members of NCKA that live in the area. If it helps I think we are looking at a November wedding and this year or more likely next year is open.

Thanks,

Jeff

Matt,

Thank you for that - As we are still undecided about some details the Hill House looks versatile enough to be accommodating no matter what we decide.

Michelle, Occidental's favorite bartender, and I have been thinking the same way since West Somoma is muy caro.  I'm interested to see how you do.  A friend has a proprty for sale in Lake County w/acreage, I don't know if there are structures on it.  Will check this weekend.

Put a bid in on a nice place  with a deep water canal right in the backyard. It's in the Stockton area .

Let me know if there is anything I can do to welcome you to the area! ( assuming your bid goes through )

In the country or city limits?

I don't think anyone mentioned Elk Grove/ Sacramento yet.  Its centrally located and IS in Northern California.  In fact, its more northern than any of the other places  that people mentioned AND houses/property can be had for cheap now!

Yeah, I've looked (Sacramento and Elk Grove) and there are some nice properties but nothing really with a deep canal. I saw a few with lakefront which was tempting but I would like an area of access to deep water.

There are some pretty nice places available on the coast JNO of Anchor Bay about 1/2 distance to Point Arena - here's one such:
