CHUB and I woke up at 4:15 hopped in the car and headed out. 1st stop was in town for gas. Debit card not working at the pump and CHUB noticed steam coming from the engine.  :smt013 Go inside to gas up anyway. Head home for some quick repairs. One loose bolt causing antifreeze to drip. Back on the road to Tahoe.
Arrive around 7 at Cave Rock. Rough but very little wind. Maybe it will lay down? So we go have breakfast and come back. Rough but no wind so I pay the Iron Ranger. As soon as I drop the envelope it starts howling. No longer doable.
We head to the South Shore. Looks great so we launch. We paddle out quite a way and never got deeper than 11 feet when the wind found us again. It was nasty so we decided to call it and head to Union Valley.
Beautiful conditions.
I was looking for serious AOTY points so I was trolling a SPRO BBZ-1 and an AC plug for nada. Tried jigging for nada as well.
Lots of work today for no fish but was so worth it.

Pic 1-CHUB gettin ready at Tahoe.
Pic 2 & 3..This turned to this in no time at Tahoe.
Pic 4-Ramp at Union Valley
Pic 5-Union Valley conditions

Nice pics... UVR looks really cold out there. Dragging a SPRO BBZ and an AC Plug is serious stuff... I'd hate to snag something out there with that kind of hardware on. No guts no glory I guess... Some nice macs have come out of both of those lakes recently though. How long does it take to get to the UVR launch once you get off of 50? Never been and am thinking about fishing it sooner or later.

The only accessible launch right now is the dam on the back side. It is always plowed to allow PG&E crews back there.
Easy to get to. Ice House road then left on Peavine road. Take the first paved road on your right and it will take you right to the dam. About 20-25 minutes from 50.
I did snag the SPRO but using tuna style flurocarbon saved my bacon. :smt002

I grew up at UVR and Loon...awesome lakes.  UVR has better fish but the levels fluctuate like crazy.  Loon is more scenic but the fish are pretty cookie cutter with rare exceptions.  We used to camp at Loon all of the time, its been quite a while now.  Cool (pun intended) report.

Way to be a trouper Tote and Chub. So I guess this time you bring your wallet, but it's still pissed that you left it home last time and doesn't want to pay for gas.

Those are some nice chilly pic's. It was fairly windy in the U town yesterday too.

CHEERS!
