Hi Matt:

I picked up a used Ocean Kayak Yak board in Mendo and my Wife loved it. I use it for VanDamm Ab diving.
I'm not sure how it does in the in the Surf. I sold it to Art because, I don't have room in my third story Apt. I really need to move where
neighbors don't call the Fire Dept. when I smoke fish! :smt044

Matt, the yakboard surfs OK, but a much better choice is the kaos made by wilderness systems.  The kaos is basically a surfboard hull with a sot kayak deck.  it responds like a surfboard.  IMO, neither of these boats are good ab-diving boats - they're too small.  Your hobie should work well as a diving platform (although I'm dubious about all the infrastructure you've added).  Generally, good surf boats don't do anything else very well.

Also, your hobie probably surfs OK too.

Hi Dave,

The WS Kaos really does look like a serious and very fun surfing yak, but I wonder how it would be for playing on the river, etc..

BTW, the outriggers on my Hobie can very easily be removed for surfing.  Maybe I'll just stick with what I've got with the Hobie and get used to it as an all purpose yak.

Say, when do we get to go diving together? I usually have Sundays off.
