Got on the water a 8:30am.  Went to the center of the lake.  Marking a few fish.  Not as many as on Tues.  A few boats were drifting with power bait.  I tried anchoring and after a while tried to drift.  Got a few takedown.  But, nothing stucked.  Blame it on the full moon.

Anchored up and got my first trout at 10am.  Ended up with 4 small trout 11" to 14".  I could not get that last fish.  Bite shutdown around 1pm and everything on the meter disappeared.  I was fishing in 40 ft of water.  Tried moving around and there were less fish at 45-48ft and at 30 ft.  Gave up trying to get the last one.

For those guys that smoke trout.  I have been reusing the brine and just adding a little more soy sauce, salt, ginger or powered garlic.  I even put in a little BBQ sauce.  I will freeze the brine and then take it out and let it melt.  Then putting in the fish.  I then put it in the fridge and then every morning put it in the freezer.  Get home at night and put it in the fridge.

After a few days of this I put the fish in a baggie with out the brine and still do the freezer and fridge process.  I do this because sometimes I cannot smoke it for 3 to 4 days because of work.  This process you don't get the freezer burn or let the trout flesh get to old.  I have the brine in baggies and just use the baggies instead of plastic tubs or glass ware.

Took some pics of the back pond.  It has some LMBass and bluegills.  You need wheels to get back there and there is a big hill to climb.

You might want to take a look at the lake regs for the back ponds.  I think inflatable will do, but not kayak.  I used to live nearby, and I think back ponds are off limits to rigid boats of any kind.  I am no official so it is worth looking into.  I have heard that there are some fat LMB in those back ponds.

Good report with some nice pics.  Shadow Cliffs can be a jewel of a pond on a nice, windless day.  ***Don't forget about the 18 lb largemouth that was caught there recently.  It might be worth buying a couple swimbaits to see what a bruiser like that will do to a kayak ***  WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOO!!  (insert little smiley face on a sleigh ride)

Nice report, Ken.  You're wearing that place out, Man!   :smt002

Great info on the brine technique.  Thanks.

Don't really know if you cannot have a kayak back there.  Joel and I got away with it probably 3-4 years ago.

I will check at the station next time I am there.  It is a perfect place for a float tube.
