Need an Inexpensive Seaworth GPS so I can find the boundaries of the MPA's.  Any suggestions from anyone? Nothing fancy needed just need something that'll hold up.

Thanks In Advance,

Hey Pj,

I don't know exactly what inexpensive is for you but I have had a Garmin etrex legend for about three years now I got it at wa@#$rt for under 150.00, I think it's a great unit, waterproof, built in base maps, plenty of memory, A little rinse after use on the water and its good to go.  I think any of the Garmin etrex models are good for what you want to do with it.  I think the original etrex unit is about 90 bucks.

keep an eye on REIoutlet.com.  I've seen the Magellan Explorer 100 for under $50 a couple of times.  It is supposed to be H2O proof but the gasket looks weak...  I have the 500 model and always put it a dry bag to be safe.

If you can spend a little time on eBay, you can get some of the lowest prices on the units mentioned above. I was bidding on a new Garmin etrex Legend today but let it go because it jumped to $147.79 at the end. Still not a bad deal deal I know I can do better. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130201387857&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI

There's a Magellan eXplorist 200 auction ending tomorrow that's at $33 + $9 shipping right now:

Just be sure to check the seller's feedback record, item condition, components included & shipping cost.

If the auction thing isn't your schtick, they're are lots of links to online stores where you can search for the best prices as well as get reviews to help decide what models are best for you.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys!  Looking forward to the season opener.  Can't wait to see if it'll be better this year than last.

I've been using a Lowrance Ifinder H20 for about a year now and I love it.

FishFlogger with your Lowrance Ifinder H20 do you have the mapping software for it to locate the MPAs or do you enter them in as waypoints? How do you guys do it to stay out of the MPAs?  I have been borrowing a friends old basic Garmin etrex and would like to get one of my own.

is the etrex too simple to keep you out of mpa's? I guess I'll have to RTFM, but maybe somebody has used this super simple GPS for this stuff too?
