Hi just wondering if anybody has fished the San Joaquin River on hwy 140 just out of Gustine? Passed by it many of times but never yakked it. What is recommended for fishing this place? Any info would help. Thanks in advance. Andy...

I used to live in gustine and have seen some big stripers come out of there. I guess you could launch right there at the bridge or by the campgrounds. Ive always wanted to do it just never wanted to do it alone.   jeff

I can understand why!  Can't say that I blame you!

Thanks for the San Joaquin post. Was very stoked when I saw this.
I spent a good chunk of life on this river. From Friant Dams "broken bridge" down to hwy 99 was my part of the ride. Too many adventures to tell but I have a few pictures.
There is a book called "San Joaquin: a river betrayed"(gene rose). Check it out if youre interested in that waters Hx.
I hope you catch a monster on the SJ ride.

Fish master...if you want some company let me know. We could always do a float down and leave one of our cars at each end.    jeff

Jeff that sounds like an awsome plan.. Is there A place to camp, or is it a one day thing? Fill me in with some detail so we could plan it out. There will be myself and my cousin Monster Guppy. Anyway keep in touch with any ideas. Laters Andy.

I know there is that campground right on the river right past the bridge past the go cart track. Id just have to look on a map to see where we could float to. If not we can just paddle upstream a ways and float and fish back down
