Did your OB come with a cart?  If not, you'll need one of those.  Depending on who you talk to, you might need an upgraded cart anyway.

VHF radio A MUST!!!

Maybe a net?

I've got an ICOM and LOVE it.  It was a bit pricey but wouldn't trade it for the world, especially if I need it to save my life some day.

I think most people on the board use Uniden or Standard Horizon and have never heard a bad word about either product.

I've been using the floating Icom M34 radio lately and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I've used plenty of junk radios in other aspects of my life and plenty of good ones too. The Icom is the first marine radio I've used and so far, it seems like a good basic radio that meets my needs on the water.

This is what i have.
http://www.northeastmarineelectronics.com/browseproducts/Uniden-Voyager-Handheld-VHF.html
Looked at 3 sited Cabelas was one and they had this radio listed at $199.
http://xtremedeal4u.zoovy.com/product/VOYAGER/Uniden_Voyager_Handheld_VHF_Marine_RadioVoyager_Marine_Radio.html
This place was the next in line, a few $ less.
Anyhow, I haven't used it a whole lot, but when I did it worked fine.  It's not a floater though, I keep it clipped to PFD.  There was a rather sizeable post about VHF's recently, Try a search and you'll be able to see what radio most are using.

Damn!!! Those are great prices!!!  Ebay is selling them for about the same price, but depending on shipping and tax it can come out to be a few dollars more or less than these prices.  I ALMOST got one on Ebay for 100$, but a sniper beat me out by a buck.  I got the ICOM M34 too, and really like it.  Floating to me means I will be less likely to do something stupid with it and regret it.  But I generally keep it clipped to my PFD, cause it does you no good if its in your boat when you fall out!

Btw, anyone have a busted voyager and accessories? http://tinyurl.com/2y7z7o

You might want to add a whistle or horn, signaling mirror (or AOL CD), some flares, and all the dry bags you can afford.

Guys I've fished with Bryan a few times and he looks pretty comforterable, fished with him all day at CC on a day that would have sent most of us home.
