Fished Del Valle from 10:30 to 3:00 for one tiny stocker in Heron Bay. I was trolling a gold Kastmaster, and various Rapalas. The stocker came on the Rapala.

I marked plenty of fish, but they were all 30' to 40' deep and I didn't have the gear to get that deep. On the radio I heard the various boats mention that the only decent sized fish were coming on Rapalas on the downrigger.

Nice day, very little wind, but lots of PBs. If you have a downrigger or are willing to drag some serious weight on your line, then Del Valle might be the place to go for trout.

Thanks for the report.  I was out there on my bike and seen a few yaks on the water but didn't notice any of them fishing.

Got a good workout on the trails and had lots of fun but I think I need a better bike.  My cheap ass Mongoose "PRO" rockadile probably isn't the best tool for the job  :smt003 ...especially not since I've left it outside for the past couple of years with absolutely no maintenance at all.

Pacifico,

Trade that Mongoose in for a Hobie with an outdrive and you can have both worlds.

When I submitted my application to NCKA Mooch told me that I was forbidden from owning a Hobie.   :smt012

For now I think I'll stick to the Marauder for paddling and the Mongoose (maybe a new bike soon) for pedaling.

But those planters LOVE powerbait! Particularly the orange or rainbow variety!
You can troll it with a 3/8 ounce egg sinker. That will get you down to where they are hanging. :smt003 :smt002

Thanks Scott. Ive got a strange run going at Del Valle. I've had tough days there but I've never been skunked. In fact, this was my first time there that I didn't land at least a 2 - 3lb trout. I guess that's why I keep going back.  :smt002
