That's cool Duane but how was the party :smt061

Way to try something new Duane. SIK's cost alot more than fishing kayaks but the hobby is way cheaper in the long run

BTW-People have been fishing out of decked kayaks for 10,000 yrs, it's only in the last 10 or so years that we cut the tops off them canoe style

Hey Duane, thats one classy SIK.  What beauty!  What curves!

Concerning kids, My Dad was 41 when I was born (Mom was 31) and was 44 when my sister was born, and he had a great time raising us.  He's 89 now, and we still love each other so much it almost hurts.  I'm never had kids (by blood) but I helped raise my GFs two boys, who are now married and in College with good careers, so I'm really proud of them and it was well worth the effort to help them have good childhoods.

Now, if your new date wants to go fishing with you, that sounds like a good start. :smt002

I just dug this pic up from my baja files. This was out at Todos Santos Island off Ensenada, BC. It's an 8 mile open water crossing out to the island. A sea-kayak might not be as Ideal as a sit-on-top for a fishing platform but it will sure carry yu and gear the distance to fishing grounds never seen by yakkers

My friend Adam always fished out of a closed deck kayak and never had any problems.  He even took it on our three week baja adventure in 2005.  All I know is that he didn't have nearly as hard of a time catching fish out of his kayak as I did trying to keep up with him in my SOT.

Here he is in Baja with a couple Toro (Jack Crevalle).

I would not want to fish off one because they are very uncomfortable to sit in for a long period of
time like 6 hr or more.As it was my legs were a sleep in about 1hr  :smt013 and my lower back hurt to
as for long paddles I can see the reason to fish off one of these if I could find away to be more
uncomfortable I don't think it would be to hard to cover 20 mi in a day

You can cover 50 miles a day in a touring sea kayak no problemo (with some conditioning)
It's true they are uncomfortable to sit in if you don't find the right one. They are like womens shoes. What happens is that sitting in this new outstretched position puts pressure on your femeral artery causing your feet to go to sleep and your patella to throb. With some sealegs and stretching beforehand you'd be fine Duane Putting a rolled up towel or cushion under your thighs does the trick also. With sea-kayaks you don't sit in them you wear them!
