xsquid, shotgun, and I launched from Kings Island Marina and explored the tule islands of Whites Slough.  We found the fish biting black/blue jigs with pork trailers, swim baits, and texas-rigged Berkley 7 inch power worms in black.  X-squid landed three LBM and I landed three LMB each about 1-2 lb.  Shotgun couldn't find a fish, but tried his best on his first bass fishing trip.  All in all it was a good day (exept for the wind) to be out on the water, which was the clearest I've seen it in a long time--3-4 ft. viz...

I'll be heading out again tomorrow.  Launching out of Kings at 7:30 (instead of Tower), and going deeper into Whites (to the east).

Well, you just made my mind up for me.  I was contemplating Del Valle or Delta tomorrow.  I hardly know the delta, so I always end up going to Del Valle.  What time are you hitting the water?

7:30 from kings island marina.  Take Eight Mile road west from I-5 past the first bridge, just before the second bridge.  $10 launch fee.

See you there tomorrow.

March 2nd report...Okay, yesterday was dead calm compared to today....but I ventured out despite the wind advisory.  The tules made a great wind break, but the open water was sooo choppy.  Fished Whites Slough again, and went for a bit into Dissappointment Slough.  Continued to fish with worms in the tules and caught 2 in the first 45 minutes, then one more in the afternoon for a three fish total.  All on worms in the tules.

I should have just went there.  I went to Del Valle to avoid the wind advisory for the delta.  The wind advisory should have included Livermore.  The wind was blowing from all directions and I caught nothing.  As I was leaving, I saw a guy at the marina witha 21 lb. striper.  That made me feel even worse.

Good job @ delta.  I still need to make it out there!

Way to stick it out.  I was wondering if you were going to make it with the wind here today.  Looks like a little better size too.  The wind is finally subsiding, just in time for the work week.   :smt011

I was also wondering if you would go out in that wind today.
Nice job on the fish.

My Hobie loves the wind.  I got pretty wet from the chop while heading into the wind, but it was not hard to do.  I actually use the wind to "hover" in a spot and fish...so the wind makes it easier to hold a spot than when it's calm.  Sorry we couldn't hook up sumo, I'll be heading out next weekend and will post a hook-up soon.

When the wind is blowing at Del Valle, I usually find my target spot and paddle upwind for a drift over the "sweet spot".  That was impossible sunday since the wind kept changing.  That, combined with the powerboat activity, stained water, no bites, and 1 hr. drive made me pretty frustrated.

I will definitely try to make it to the delta next weekend.  I need to catch a LMB soon and get over this looong period of skunk trips.
