Sean (scwafish), Joe (bluefin17), Andy (kickinbass), and I went for a long walk yesterday (2-15-08) for some steelhead action at Stealth Cr. #33471. We arrived at around 9 am and walked upstream for about 2 miles, stopping and fishing along the way. Joe caught five smolt (I think that's right....baby steelhead), Sean caught two and I caught two. Andy wasn't so lucky.

Sean hooked-up, but the victory was short lived, as the wild thoroughbred thrashed his head back and forth and came unbuttoned.

We thought we were going to go zero on landed steelhead until the last quarter when I hooked a nice chrome breeder. He fought hard, with several jumps and long pulls, but I came out victorious. He was released unharmed to find a mate and propagate.

We ended the day at 4 pm and found ourselves at the local brewery with a couple of pints of that amber courage.

Another great day in Northern California!

CHEERS!

Great day indeed, didn't expect to see much caught that day but Dan pulled out the the eleventh hour fish, a beautiful fish at that.  Great walk and great day.

Thanks! That was about the hardest fighting steelie I have caught. I guess it's because we were so close to the ocean and he was still full of vigor. The steelie's I've caught in the Russian have had to travel about 90 miles before I see them.

Thanks again Sean!

Beautiful Fish Dan some people say that native fish fight better, I think their sorta like people some just have more game. I have noticed that the smaller Hens have a lot of game everybody remembers the small guy from High School that would never back down.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
