I'm wonderin why these people are all chasing sturgeon from kayaks?  I heard that trend is played out.  They should be getting sleigh rides from pan fish.  Now that's a real thrill. :smt045

That guy does look familiar though.

Naw... everytime someone pulls a giant dino out of the water, they get flamed for mishandling.  This time it was the paper that did the flaming instead of some message board.

Honestly, sliding an oversized fish onto a kayak, while not recommended, must certainly be far less damaging to them than some of the clowns in power boats that you see lifting them by their gills or by the center of their body.

That said, I wouldn't pull an oversize fish out of the water even on a kayak, but it took me a few years of experience with these things before becoming dogmatic about that position.

If I was a newbe and hadn't benefitted from the experience and advise of others, and if that was the first sleigh ride I've had, I might have done the same thing.  So I don't want to be judgemental.

The legal/regulatory issue is another thing and I think that's what the article seemed focused on.

I just hope I get a ride tomorrow out there.
