I know, very off-topic, but there's not a whole heck of a lot of yak-fishing going on right now...

We're headed for Tahoe on Saturday and I'm considering getting my wife skis/boots/poles for her birthday.  Anyone have suggestions for places to check out while going through Sac?

thx - Eric

Land Park Ski sometimes has some good deals on some higher end stuff.  I don't know what you're exactly looking for but it's a good little shop on Freeport Blvd next to the JC.  It's only open during ski season.  Good luck.  If you can't find the # let me know I drive by there every night from work.  Good luck and way to boost the WAF!!

If you happen to stop at the "Outlet Stores" in Vacaville, there is a place called "Sports Authority" over by In-and-out burger place. They have some great deals on just about everything including a good place to check out for yaks and fishing gear. Hope this helps.  :smt006

Sport Chalet has a 30% off sale on snow equipment.  I'd try them also.

REI us having their winter clearance with up to 35% off. And with 3 in the area, you're sure to go right by one no matter if you're headed up 50 or 80.

Sports Chalet and REI have ridiculous mark-ups for starters.I don't think their 'deals' are such great deals.
There is a Sports Authority in Folsom. If you go up Hwy 50 take East Bidwell and it is about a mile down. They have screaming deals at the end of the year.
I got a Lamar snowboard, bindings and boots all for under $150 at the end of the season. The snowboard retailed for almost $400 alone.
You also might want to try Big 5 if they still sell skis. They git rid of stuff near the end of the seaon too for cheap.

Abkin, it's a great way to build up your WAFs! :smt044
but many people going out every week, so I don't know about "not a whole heck of yak-fishing going on"...
I know you're in the prime habitat, but you gotta come down here sometime...

If you come down from I-5, I remember they have one big good ski-shop in Redding (sorry, I forgot what they call, but you'll see their big sign from I-5).
I got my snowboard stuff from Ground Zero the end of season deal, but it wasn't good deal as Tote got... :smt009  I should have tried there...
Sports Chalet has a lot of stuff, but you might get trouble spending too much time & money at fishing section... :smt044
