Holly Toledo and I  met up with Hydrospider  (Terry) at about 10:00 for a little rainy day bass fishing.  Barely made it to Terry's first haunt and Fish On! A real fatty.  We picked up a couple more nice fish and broke for lunch. Lunch at Richmond Park was a well needed respit from the chilly rain. Steak sandwiches, beef stew and some adult beverages recharged our spirits and then it was back out on the water. The bite was real soft making getting the fish to stick a challenge. Holy Toledo was high boat landing nine healthy Clear Lake largemouth. Got off the water just after dark
as another heavy downpour began.
Many Thanks  to Terry for giving us the tour of his local fishery.

Word on the water has been about a tough bite. The largemouth is hunkerd and the weather is not conducive to deadstick tactics. We talked to one tourney boat and they had no fish.
Our day was also cold and slow. We were on fish but had alot of take downs without solid hook ups.
I threw a big ripbait but it wasnt long before the cold started to effect the dexterity in my hands. Switched to my thick gloves and ended up with a nest beyond repair. ugh! but now I could drift and hold my beer.
enter the super agents. I still struggled, but watching others enjoy Konocti bays fishing (and RP)  makes for a fantastic day.
Thanks again for the visit! I wouldnt have gone without the interest and wouldnt have wanted to miss out on the rain/wind and great conversation.

good news!  clear lake is rising and water is starting to flood those springtime hunting grounds. goodtimes ahead my friends

That was a friggin' blast!  Terry has really got it worked out for pretty much a guaranteed good time.  Coming over a snowy Hopland grade in the morning and spending the day on the lake with views of a volcano was pretty cool and reminded me how great norcal is.  The fishing was a bit tough, real soft bite and just a slow loading of the tip.
Can't wait to get back up there and do it again!

Sounds like CL is still producing the fat ones. Great report and congratulations on catching fish when everyone else is getting skunks in that lake. That water is amazingly clear for the amount of rain we had!

The water clarity is still good on the southend, except the deep south like bass alley into cache creek. The northend looks more wonka like due to places like Kelsey Creek and Rodmans slough dumping into the lake. Im not sure how the fishing is on that end but recent tourneys have reported up to 10 boats coming in without fish.
Im assuming that the rivers are blown out so I may get back on C-lake monday afternoon, unless I can get a good report on conditions at mendo.
 How about it "mendocrew"?

Terry, Lake Mendo looks like coffee with lots of half-n-half. I think you'll do better in your backyard.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Where are you guys launching for Clearlake?  And where are you fishing?  I live in Ukiah and have never made the drive to fish clearlake because I don't know where to begin.
