Well I have been dusting off all my turkey gear and getting ready for the season.  I treated myself to a new call.  a slate, pot call.  I was online at REALTREE.com going through the turkey forum and came across a guy who makes calls.  AJCUSTOMCALLS.COM.  his name is Andy Smith and he makes beautiful calls!!!! and I just got it today and it sounds and looks great.  He has GREAT prices too.  If your a turkey hunter in the market for a hand made, custom autographed call,Andy is the guy to contact.

Happy hunting.

Having nothing to do with turkey (or FISHING  (sorry)).....I just bought myself a Lyman .50-cal "Great Plains Hunter" muzzleloader with 32-inch bbl and 1:34 rifling twist  for $409  (Lyman's price on it is $624)...

http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/department.asp?dept=%4D%55%5A%5A%4C%45%4C%4F%41%44%49%4E%47&dept2=%4D%55%5A%5A%4C%45%4C%4F%41%44%49%4E%47%20%52%49%46%4C%45%53&dept3=%35%30%20%43%41%4C&dept4=%4C%59%4D%41%4E%20%47%52%45%41%54%20%50%4C%41%49%4E%53

....with bullet molds for:  395-grain solid conical, 190-grain round-ball, and a 354-grain "minnie" design.

All-costs-considered it's about $.50/shot with a full load and the 395-grain bullet, and just over half that, (because of reduced powder charge and lead costs) for the round-ball.

Figure 1700 fps with 6" high at 100, and 8" low at 200.   Bullet-velocity at 200 will be 925 fps...and with a 8-inch group at 200 yds.

Black powder is fun......and a .50-cal 400-grain bullet is good for Grizzley and Moose (not that I'm going for either...but just to say...it's a formidible thing.)
