I needed water time today.  When I left home around 1 it was 39 degrees and pouring rain near sea level.  I stopped for lunch in Eureka and it was clear that snow was trying to fall.  I got up to Big Lagoon and went for it.  Trolled a couple different lures and covered a mile while snow that wouldn't stick was plastering me.  It wasn't photo weather!  No hookups there and there was a pack of hunters making me nervous, so I loaded up and headed north to Stone Lagoon.  Launched there and had a great snowfall run before wrapping it up to get back to town for dinner with the in-laws.  No hookups, but, as I try to make a point of, the chance was there!   :smt002  The snowfall down to sea level was rare and trippy.  Cool day.   :smt001

I was thinking of you, Mike!  I gotta start running with gloves!   :confused2:  My hands started to freeze real quick on Big Lagoon and I thought I'd have to bail out and leave due to it.  Then I put mind over matter and thought how that burrito, taco and mini-pitcher should be fuel enough for my hands to warm up, and they did!   :thumleft:

What kind of job does one find in Eureka?

If you're an artist or an entreprenuer who can relocate and create your magic anywhere then Humboldt should at least be on your list of places to pickup a seasonal pad.  Otherwise it's pretty tough to land a good gig up here...  University professor would be one of the top jobs here probably...

Eric what's the intell on fish levels at both lagoons. I saw driving north on 101 that big lagoon had breached. Did a mess of steelhead rush in and get trapped? I was thinking about hitting the Mad on foot wednesday but am down for some lagoon time on a yak if you're going out there again this week

Woot - you forgot retirement!  My Dad just got his place in Eureka and I am officially jealous of the fishing opportunities up there . .but at least I have a reason to come visit all the time, now.  I was actually up there on 1/27 and planning on hitting the lagoons . . .and decided not to go fishing at all because it was snowing!  You're a super-ncka-tough guy for sure!

Thanks for the report and pics . .looking forward to catching up with you at The Cove this spring.
