All last week the dinosaurs of the China Camp Flats were calling to Capt. Matt, so with a favorable tide we decided to give it a go this morning.  Capt. Matt , DeWeasel, and I got an early start, bought bait, paddled out, and were anchored  with lines out by 8:30 am.  We met up with another yak not long after, and lots of PBs showed up, not long after that.  Conditions were calm as the tide approached flood, but as the tide peaked, dark clouds approached from the North and the rain and wind started.  Conditions were tough; it was wet, cold, and the wind chop, wind direction, and tide kept the boats swinging and bobbing all morning.  Strike detection was extremely difficult.  Intermittent taps and pumps resulted in nothing more that stripped hooks.  Until finally, DeWeasel got a solid hookset and the fight was on.  After a great fight, DeWeasel landed a nice striper.  The wind really started ripping at about 2 pm, so we headed in.  Not a very productive day, but it was great being out.

Like Lost Coast said, it was just nice to be on the water. The conditions deteriorated as the day went on but DeWeasel saved the day with a nice Striper. Met another Yakker named Gabriel who landed a small Striper. We are going to hit it again on Monday, company welcome.

That's one nice, healthy looking striper. I've seen the nasty out there... it's no fun to be bobbing on the bay like that. You guys got guts to stick it out there like that. Nice job all around.

Great report.  It's always nice to have another species to fall back on if you don't hookup your main target - and that's a fat striper!  WTG.   :smt001

Nice one, DeWeasel.  Congrats!

I give you guys credit for sticking in out in those conditions.  As you can see, it sometimes pays off.

There are some hog stripers out there right now.  Ya just never know what you're gonna catch when your soaking shrimp at this time of the year.  Freddie once caught a 66" sturgeon and a 32" dino on the same day, not far from where you guys were.
