I'm going to buy a Diawa sealinex40 for my heavy duty rig. I will use it for Islander trip type stuff, sturgeon etc. What line do you guys recommend? Should I use mono or braid? What weight?

That thing will swallow a lot of braid $$$ so you probably want to go Mono/Braid/Mono. I like to stay in the middle range of recommended weights that the reel is rated for,adj the topshot for my target species.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I just picked it up at Sportsman's wearhouse for $104 and I bought a 7' Ugly stick Tiger medium action rated for 20-50 lb line. Now I just need a penn 500 and I should be set. Sports chalet has Penn 500/Penn rod combos for $69 but the rods are very stiff.
