How many of you use them during the winter storms that knock out power? If you had to get another one, what fuel type would you go with now, Gas or Diesel? Not considering propane.
   I'm looking at a diesel 6500w (nothing smaller)it's priced at $989 72db noise at 7meters, 10hr run time @50% rating, on 3.3gal diesel
The gas Genny's rated similar run around $500-700 are a little noisier, (79db @ 7meters)
My little 1850W Coleman camping Genny is doing it's job, got 5.5hr run time on about 7/8gal of gas, with my fridge, and TV,DVD, and lamp plugged into it. I ran about 2gal of gas through it last Friday night and Saturday before power came back on at 9pm Sat.
The 3 requirements I'm looking for in a Genny now are, how quiet it runs, Run time/fuel cap, and size/watts.
Currently having to run 2 extension cords into the house off the 1850w'er, eventually I'll have a transfer box outside to just plug the Genny in and disco utilities.
So, questions are: Gas or Diesel? And why?

Hi Yaker:

For the short term and less money use gas but, if you want to
free yourself from the "Grid" go Diesel and burn French Fry Oil! :smt005
I have a friend in Albion who imports Diesel Gen. from China which are a lot less money. His name is Joe Goforth and he's number is 707-937-1951
