What a great report, Al! Hope to see you out there soon--I've GOT to get on the water again. Del Valle is such a scenic place, too.

Big J actually gave me the info after I met her for the first time at Fishermans Warehouse:

From her email to me:

"I finally found the tag for the net. It's a Frabill Tru-Trax with a telescoping (4'-8') cam-lock handle system, a Pow'R Lok yoke system, and a tangle-free dipped net that I bought at Outdoor Pro in Oakland."

Liked it so much I bought it online for myself.  It is a bit heavy, but the tangle free net is pretty cool, and it doesn't seem to hurt the fish nearly as much.  But if I could find a lighter rubber net to use instead, I would do it in a heart beat!

Yes, this net is great. What I wanted, though, was the tangle-free net, not the telescoping length, so I whacked off the telescoping part and put a foam bicycle grip/end cap on the remaining fixed handle. Voila! A net that will outwit Rapalas at a comfortable length and weight for me!

Great pictures and report!  I haven’t seen the Bald Eagle yet but I have only been as far as Swallow Rock and I hear that they are up Heron Bay.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get out until next year.

Is Outdoor Pro still in Oakland?  Last month I drove to the address posted on their website (1822 Embarcadero) and couldn’t find it.

yes it is there!   when heading south on 880 exit Embarcadero and turn left, it is RIGHT NEXT TO THE FREEWAY, near the overpass that heads left(east).  You have to drive/turn like you are going (eastward)over the pass, but make a hard right into a long driveway.(hidden if you not driving on the freeway)
It's at the end and they close early on sundays 3pm.
be very prepard to slide your favorite plastics....cuz they got lots of shinney toys there.

Now what is this all about??????  I must have missed something while I have been swimming in work or something.
